This week, TPC Craig Ranch gets the nod for the second year in a row to host the AT&T Byron Nelson Classic down in Dallas, TX. It’ll be the first week we see world #1 and recent Masters Champion Scottie Scheffler in the field, along with many other big names including Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson and Justin Thomas. Unfortunately Brooks Kopeka, withdrew today for undisclosed reasons. Brooks hasn’t played since he didn’t make the cut in Augusta.
Another storyline that’s been swirling around golf today is the recent announcement from the PGA Tour in regards to their stance and ultimate rejection of the request rom several players to be able to play in the inaugural event in London next month. Lee Westwood is the only player known to have publicly made his plans for requesting a release for the event, and he’s in the field at TPC Craig Ranch too.
Byron Nelson is a former two-time Masters Champion in 1937 & 1942 and widely considered one of the greatest golfers and most influential icons in the history of golf. He once won 11 consecutive tournaments in 1947, 18 total that whole year. The tournament was formerly hosted at TPC Las Colinas, until it moved to TPC Craig Ranch last year. The course is very get-able and the conditions should be primed for scoring. My guess is 28-under wins it…..and I like Zalatoris at (+1400), I like Taylor Gooch (+4500) and a long shot I like Matt Wallace at (+50000).
Man, it’s really hard to not put a little money on Scottie too, because how could you live with yourself if you didn’t bet on the hottest golfer on the planet?!? (+700)
