Well the Farmers Insurance Open kicked off today at the historic Torrey Pines on a rare Wednesday start. The field this week is packed with top talent, including the opening round’s featured group of world #1 John Rahm, world #4 Dustin Johnson and world #6 Justin Thomas. Phil’s in town, reigning champion Patrick Reed is in the house, Farmers Insurance spokesperson Ricker Fowler is playing, Spieth is there, DeChambeau is hitting bombs…..LET’S GO!
The featured group of Rahm, Thomas and Johnson just made the turn. Michael Thompson is leading at 6-under and Thomas is one back at -5. Rickie is playing well also, just two back at -4. Thomas doesn’t usually play in this tournament but said he enjoyed his time at the US Open this past year that he wanted to get in. Rahm LOVES it here. Winner of the 2017 Farmers Insurance Open, runner up in 2020, 2021 US Open victory. Got engaged here. First win as a dad here. It’s not brain surgery to figure out why he’s the favorite to win this week. The conditions look to be pretty good, so we’ll look fwd to a good leaderboard for Saturday.
