Rory Wins CJ Cup

This past weekend at The Summit Club in Las Vegas was no easy task, but Rory McIlroy prevailed on Sunday as the winner of the 2021 CJ Cup.  This course was setup to score, and a star-studded field took advantage of the conditions.  For most of the weekend it looked like Keith Mitchell was going to hoist the trophy come Sunday, but he posted a 73 in his 3rd round on Saturday that gave room for Rory and Colin Morikowa to come in and jump ahead on Sunday.  The final round was incredible to watch, nearly everyone in the field played well.  On Sunday there were only four rounds over par.  Max Homa (+3), Brian Harman (+1), SW Kim (+5) and Charl Schwartzel (+3).   And there were 3 players who were 10-under or better!  Colin Morikowa (-10), Taylor Gooch (-10) and Emiliano Grillo (-11).

Hats off to Rory for the big win!  He’s so fun to watch when he’s playing well and would love to see him compete for a major this year.  Augusta has always had his number, and I think it always will, but it’d be fun to watch him go after any of the other three majors.

Next up is the Zozo Championship in Japan being played at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club.  Defending Champion is Patrick Cantlay.  His first win last year on his way to becoming FedEx Cup Champion!
