Sungjae Im Dominates Shiners Children’s Open

This past weekend is always a special one in Las Vegas for the Shiners Children’s Open hosted at TPC Summerlin.  The field wasn’t filled with the brunt of the superstars on the TOUR, but that didn’t limit the entertainment one bit on the course.  TPC Summerlin has always been a course where you see the guys go low, and that’s exactly what Sungjae Im did to secure his 2nd victory on the PGA TOUR.  Im shot a final round 62 (-9), propelling him to 24-under, four shots clear of Matthew Wolfe, who for the second year in a row finished runner up.

Im was 9-under thru 13 holes on Sunday and was tracking for a final round 59, the holy grail of scores for the tour players.  But after Im posted 8 birdies in 9 holes (thru 13), he said he got a peek at the scoreboard and realized he was 5 strokes up on Wolfe and played safe golf, posting par ono the final four holes.

Im is only 23 years old and after a winless 2020-2021 season he’s right back where he wants to be.  The win also qualified him for the Sentry TOC in January down in Hawaii.  We’re looking fwd to seeing him take a run at Augusta National in April.
